Republic Day : (Short Essay)

Independent India passed her Constitution on January 26, 1950. So, this day was declared the Republic Day of our country and on this day people celebrate and commemorate the importance of our freedom. This day is a National Holiday; Schools, Colleges and Offices do not function on this day. But, many events and activities like March Past, Debates, competitions and so on take place in schools all over the country. In New Delhi, the President of India initiates the celebration. The President salutes at the tricolor flag and deeply observes the spectacular march-past. There is a parade that comprises of all the three wings of the Military-Army, Navy, and Air Force.In the parade, war tanks, big machine guns and other heavy weapons that are used at the time of wars are displayed. Police and the N.C.C cadets also participate and march in the parade.

Republic Day : (Brief Essay)

The day on which the Constitution of India came into force is called Republic Day, that is, January 26 of every year. On Jaunary 26, 1950 the Constitution of India replaced the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

Actually, on November 26, 1949 the Indian Constituent Assembly accepted the Constitution of India as the governing document of the nation. But, only on 26 January 1950, the same came into force and made our nation an Independent Republic.

On 1930, January 26 was the day when Indian National Congress announced Poorna Swaraj (Declaration of Indian Independence). This is a reason for declaring January 26 as the Republic Day of the nation. Republic Day is one of the National holiday and celebrations take place all over the country. The major celebrations take place in the Capital City if India, New Delhi. In front of the honorable President of India,  ceremonious parades take place at the Rajpath, New Delhi. These parades are performed to display the rich cutural heritage of the nation and depict its unity in diversity.

  • Social Heritage

On the third day after Republic Day (January 29), a beating retreat ceremony takes place. This ceremony is performed by the three wings of military:

  1. Army
  2. Navy
  3. Air Force

Schools, Offices and College conduct competitions and celebrations on the previous day. Many schools conduct programs and parade on January 26 though it is a National Holiday.
