Yoga is an art of discipline that originated in India 6000 Years. Yoga is a type of exercise that anyone can practice for physical and mental empowerment. Yoga is an art that consists of many “Asanas” (Postures or Positions). Each posture when followed as described will give us corresponding physical benefits. Yoga is also called as “Pranayama” which means breathing exercises. It is a great belief that one who practices Yoga regularly with full dedication can lead a youthful life.  Yoga also leads to a stress free life for people who are suffering with heavy works in daily life. Yoga and meditation are two arts that go hand in hand.

Yoga : (Brief Essay)

Yoga is a versatile structure of breathing exercises which in today’s trend is considered a Complementary Therapy/ Alternative Therapy. Yoga is a great art of discipline that originated in India  and the word is derived from both Buddhism and Hinduism. Yoga is a set of breathing exercises that must be performed in specific postures or positions (called Asanas) to obtain the corresponding results. Yoga is also called “Pranayama”. Pranayama means Breathing Exercises.

Yoga can be classified as:

  • Raja Yoga
  • Brahma Yoga
  • Bhakthi Yoga
  • Hatha Yoga

Yoga is an important art that should be taught to children. Yoga helps in increasing focus and concentration; so it helps children to stay focused in their studies and score high and succeed in their school life. This art of disciple helps a person to enhance personal power and reduces stress in day to day life.

Through regular practice of Yoga, a person can control a person’s body and soul. We can stay fit both physically and mentally if we practice Yoga on a daily basis.The asanas that are done along with Breathing ensures proper functioning of the body. Yoga gives flexibility to our body and keeps us fresh throughout the day. A person who does Yoga regularly can stay like youth forever.

Yoga gives us inner peace, self development and self awareness. Yoga can be done by anyone; the asanas cure many of the conditions like asthma, obesity, joint problems, back pain and so on due to regular practice of Yoga. It is important to increase the awareness on the great art of discipline to people all over the world. As a part of creating awareness to people about Yoga and its benefits, June 21 is declared as International Yoga Day every year.
