Taj Mahal, the majestic monument of India, is one of the seven wonders of the world. Taj Mahal is located in the southern bank of Yamuna river, in Agra. Taj Mahal is considered one of the famous monuments of our country. The great monument was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who was a Persian Princess. The construction of Taj Mahal was estimated to happen from 1631-1648. Taj Mahal is one of the best architecture ever designed. Because of Taj Mahal, Agra has become one of famous tourist destinations for people all across the world.

Taj Mahal was commissioned in the year 1632 by Shah Jahan, one of the famous Mughal Emperors. Shah Jahan built this great monument as a symbol of love for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

Taj Mahal is a majestic monument that is admired by people from all over the world. The monument was built using Persian and Mughal Architecture. The uniqueness of Taj Mahal is that it was built with White Marble embedded with semi precious stones. The marble look of Taj Mahal is the main reason for its beauty.

The tomb is the center of attraction of Taj Mahal. The decorations were done using the Mughal Architecture. In front of the tomb is a beautiful garden and a marble water tank. The reflecting pool formed using this water tank beautifully reflects the image of the monument. Three side of Taj Mahal is covered by Crenellated Red Sandstone walls. One remaining side that faces the river is left open.

The monument was not built in a year or two. Though it was commissioned in 1632, it took around 12 years to build the plinth and tomb. For the monument to fully stand as it is today, it took another 10 years. Facts from History say that almost 1000 elephants were used for transport of the building materials. The marbles, stones and materials were bought from various parts of the country and world. Today, Taj Mahal stands as one of the famous tourist destination for people from all across the world.
