The Students’ Man – Abdul Kalam

We very well know about our Former President A P J Abdul Kalam who passed away recently on July 27 2015. The facts about him are so amazing and inspiring that one would love him for the lifestyle he lived during his lifetime.

Proudly called as the “Missile Man of India”, Dr Kalam was born in Rameswaram on October 15, 1931. He was born in a simple family; the simplicity he had during his childhood continued till the end of his life. He started his profession as a scientist; his achievements and contributions to our country are immeasurable. The projects that were undergone under the supervision of Dr. Kalam came out as grand success.

Keeping aside his career achievements, Dr. Kalam as a personality had great affection on students. He loved giving away lectures to students. Dr Kalam visited various educational institutions and lectured students. Students loved and respected him for his down to earth nature. “India 2020”, “Wings of Fire”, “Ignited Minds” are a few books of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam that inspired the youngsters to have a vision.

He conveyed and transferred his visions and thoughts through his books and lectures to the students. Dr Kalam died from a cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to the students of IIM, Shillong on 27 July 2015. The death of the great scientist is considered a great loss not to the country or the whole world, but also for the young future. As a mark of tribute to the great inspirer, the United Nations declared Dr Kalam’s birthday (October 15) as “World Students Day”. None other tribute than this would stand as a honor to the great man who is widely accepted as teacher by students.
