What is a rational number?
Last Updated on June 22, 2022
A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction, where both the numerator and denominator are integers. In other words, it is a number that can be written in the form of a ratio.
All whole numbers are rational numbers, since they can be expressed as fractions with a denominator of 1. For example, the number 7 can be written as 7/1.
All integers are also rational numbers, since they can be written as fractions with themselves as the numerators and 1 as the denominators. For example, the number -5 can be written as -5/1.
