Definition of article
An article is a word that comes before a noun. There are Three articles in English: a, an, the.
“A” and “An” are called Indefinite articles because they do not refer to any particular person or things. Indefinite articles are used before singular countable nouns.
E.g. A cat, An apple
“The” is called the Definite article because it is used to refer to a particular person or thing. Definite article is used before singular countable nouns, plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns.
E.g. The sun, The rice, The books
