Violence against women has increased manifold in the recent years. Its high time one has to stop this human rights violation against girls and women. Violence can be a serious obstacle for development. Often women experience violence by someone they truly love and trust. One in three women is victim to this violence. Women who are subjected to domestic violence, abuse, rape, and other forms of violence are affected mentally, emotionally, and physically. The International Day on violence against women is a shout-out to the world against any violence caused to women.

The International Day on violence against women is celebrated every year on November 25. The primary reason for this day to be observed is to create awareness about violence against women. It also aims to highlight the importance of this social issue which is often hidden. As a result, the United Nations declared November 25 to be the International Day on violence against women.
