The Solar System :

  • The Solar System is a part of Milky Way
  • Solar System consists of Sun and 9 Planets
  • The most important and central part of Solar System is the Sun
  • All the planets revolve around the Sun
  • Sun is the biggest object in the Solar System

The Solar System : (Short Essay)

The Solar System is simply the Sun and 9 Planets revolving around it. The Sun is a Star and it is the biggest object in the Solar System. It is the central part of the Solar System. The fact is that the Sun is so large that about 1.3 Billions Earth are needed to match the size of a Sun. The Sun moves around the Galaxy along with all the 9 planets. Other than the Sun and Planets, the Solar System also contains Asteroids, Comets, Interplanetary Dust and Centaurs. We see days and nights because our planets rotates around the Sun and we experience season as we revolve around the Sun.

The Solar System : (Brief Essay)

The Solar system, in which our Earth is placed of is a tiny part of the Milky Way. The Solar System consists of:

  • The Sun which is the central part of the Solar System
  • The nine planets that revolve around the Sun
  • 67 satellites of the planets
  • Many small bodies namely Asteroids, Comets, Interplanetary Dust and Centaurs

The Planets of the Solar System are:

    1. Mercury
    2. Venus
    3. Earth
    4. Mars
    5. Jupiter
    6. Saturn
    7. Uranus
    8. Neptune
    9. Pluto

Among the nine planets, Pluto is now considered a Dwarf Planet. The planets in the Solar System revolve around the Sun in an Elliptical Orbit.  The orbit more often looks like a circular one but it is an Elliptical one if we learn it more closely. The days, nights and seasons we experience are due to the Rotation (causes days and nights) and Revolution (causes seasons) of Earth around the Sun. The Sun is the heaviest and hottest object in the Solar System. The System is divided into parts namely:

      • Terrestrial Planets
      • Asteroid Belts
      • Gas Giant Planets
      • Kuiper Belt
      • Scattered Disc
      • Oort Cloud

The Sun has the greatest mass and it holds all the planets together. Its mass is almost 99.9 percent of the Solar System and thus it holds all the smallest part of the planet in place. The size of Sun is so large that we need more than 1.3 Billion Earths to match it. Sun is majorly made up of:

      • Hydrogen
      • Helium

Without Sun, the Solar System would fall off and be lost in the galaxy.

We are at the urge of learning more about our Solar System. Satellites are sent to natural satellites and other planets to explore the Solar System. Researches are going on to verify the possibility of life in other planets.
