My Summer Vacation to Mahabalipuram : (Short Essay)

Everyone of us would have heard about Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram was once one of the major seaport for the Pallava Kingdom. The temples and carvings in the city are historical and speaks a lot about our culture and tradition.  We went to Mahabalipuram for our Summer Vacation this year. We enjoyed a lot in the Mahabalipuram Beach. The beach was so beautiful during the sunset and we went for horse riding along the shores of the beach. The main places we visited were Five Rathas, Arjuna Ratha, Varaha Mandapa, Nakula Sahadeva Ratha and Arjuna’s Penance. Though it was a short trip, we enjoyed the carvings and magnificent work of our ancestors.

My Summer Vacation to Mahabalipuram : (Brief Essay)

Summer Vacation without any exploration is real waste. I love traveling with my friends, that too, to historical places. Once my public examinations got over, I really thought I should spend time seeing the sights of the ancient historic town Mahabalipuram (Mammallapuram).

My friends and I planned a week’s trip with one of our parents for supporting us throughout. Mahabalipuram was a seaport during the Pallava dynasty.

Since we were new to the state, we hired a guide to take us through the landmarks of Mahabalipuram. We were really astonished by the rock cut monuments in the temples, rathas, cave temples and structural temples.

We really enjoyed the natural sceneries like Sunrise, Sunset and fast moving waves in the beach of Mahabalipuram. The Mahabalipuram Elephant Statue, Sculptures in almost all the places we move, Mahabalipuram Shore Temples, Krishna’s Butter Ball, Tiger Cave, Arjuna’s Penance, Lion Statue, Single Stone Elephant Carving of Mahabalipuram, Budha Statue of Mahabalipuram and many more overwhelmed and made us wonder about the skills and efficiency of our ancestors. We got a fair idea about the sculptures, carvings with detailed historical information from our guides. They also helped us in getting proper accommodation and suggested us the best hotels in Mahabalipuram.

Mahabalipuram has the best hotels for the tourists who come in on a daily basis. The expedition doesn’t end there; we enjoyed roaming around the shopping area which had wonderful Handicrafts, images made of Soapstone, Wood carvings, sea-shell jewels and many such things made by great artisans. As a memory, we bought a wood carving and a few sea shell jewels of the same pattern so that we will remember the trip forever.
