The UNESCO advocates this day for the sustainable management of world water resources. This Day is considered as an opportunity for world organizations and the public to get aware of the need to save water. On this day, people are given awareness to learn about water-related issues and take action.
Saving water is vital for supporting the environment and climate change. Anyone can make a difference, and people need to take measures to not waste water and save water bodies.

Water is essential for life. But today, it is becoming a scarce commodity. It is important for the world to find ways to save water bodies and increase the water content in the world. Because no living being or plants can survive without water. Moreover, changes in water levels in bringing effects on the global climate. So UNESCO has come up with the world water day to bring awareness to the world about water scarcity and climate change. Protecting water and adapting to the effects of climate change will help save lives and health.
World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22nd March, highlighting the importance of water. World Water Day is celebrated across all countries in the world with a variety of events that are focused on saving water bodies and avoiding wastage of water. Many campaigns are run by organizations to raise funds for various water projects.
The first World Water Day was designated by the United Nations, in 1993. It has become an international observance day with the intention of inspiring people around the world to learn about water-related issues. The day focuses on issues like water scarcity, water pollution, lack of sanitation, diminishing of water bodies and the impacts of climate change.
